How is CamScanner useful for students?

General Settings

If you start the CamScanner app, you get to the start page. Here you can see your own files (in this case 5 pieces) that have already been scanned with the app. Tapping the Button No. 1 you come to the general settings. There is the Point my data . This is the home screen. Another option is the Point Released to me . Here you can find files that others have shared with you, e.g. B. Files that serve as instructions and come directly from CamScanner.

If you provide files with tags, you can use them under the Point Tags search and find. This is useful in order to find individual files more quickly later. If you tap on tags, you get to the overview (see below). There you can add, edit and delete new tags.

CamScanner also offers the option of loading files onto a cloud server. Under the Point Free space can one use the memory - z. B. Invite friends - enlarge, similar to Dropbox.

The Point Settings contains settings for account, synchronization, scanning, document management, document export, security & backup and help.

Search for files

Button No. 2 (Symbol: magnifying glass) enables a Search for files . If you tap the button, the search window opens. The search works best if each scanned file is tagged with one or more tags.

Scan documents

The actual scanning process starts Button No. 3 (Symbol: camera). The adjacent window will now open. By default you are in the Scan function for documents . To take a photo of the document, press the camera key (No. 8). The standard setting is single image mode (No. 10). In batch mode (No. 9) several pictures can be taken one after the other in order to then select the best one. The gear (No. 7) opens the setting options (No. 1 to 6) for taking the photo:

No. 1: Show and hide the grid
# 2: flash settings
# 3: turn the sound on & off
No. 4: Show and hide the spirit level
No. 5: Format settings (e.g. portrait & landscape)
No. 6: Resolution of the photo

In addition to photographing a document (document scan function), there are also two other modes. If you swipe your finger from right to left, you come to Scan function for a QR code . If you photograph a QR code here, the link to a specific website contained in the QR code opens, as usual.

Second, you can swipe from left to right. Then you come to Scan function for business cards .

Crop documents

In the next step, the Limitation can be selected for cutting. If the background stands out from the document, the automatic delimitation works very well. That is why you should pay attention to this when taking photos.

The green Demarcation lines but can also be moved manually if the automatic system fails. The lines in the circles can be grabbed and moved. To reset the lines all the way to the edge, the Button No. 2 to be used.

Image processing

After cutting out the desired image section, the Image processing . The various processing options are positioned on the green bar (No. 1). In addition to the automatic function, which is sufficient in most cases, there are other options: use of the original, lighten the image, the magic, grayscale and black-and-white function.

Explanation of the buttons :

Files view

After finishing the image processing, you automatically switch to Files view of the individual documents . In this view there are various options for further processing the files:
No. 1: Scan another document directly
No. 2: Share the document with others (with invited friends)
# 3: Write comments on a document
No. 4: Share document with others: share link, share file, share JPG file
No. 5: PDF export (visible in your own files)
No. 6: Delete mode (to delete multiple files together)
No. 7: Further settings:

  • Create tag (for the respective scans)
  • Rename file
  • Import from gallery (to edit with the app)
  • PDF settings (for PDF export)
  • Email to myself
  • Display mode (first page first or last page first)

Another possibility to process files further is Long with your finger tap on a specific file . If you do this long enough, this menu appears:

share :
Share file or split JPG file.

Move : Move the file to another category.

Copy : Copy the file and move it to another category.

Clear : Delete file.

Save in the gallery : Here the file is automatically saved in the gallery. This is very useful for further processing files on the tablet with a notes app (e.g. with S Note or with Lecture Notes).

Upload / print / fax : Files can be uploaded to certain cloud services here. It is also possible to print using an AirPrint account (e.g. Google Cloud Print account). Thirdly, files can be faxed to an existing CamScanner account with credit.

Edit images from the gallery

Back on the start screen, non-CamScanner images from the gallery can also be cut and processed with the app. The corresponding dialog (see right) is opened with Button No. 4 (Symbol: several images). With the function Complete the process with files (format: PNG or JPEG) can be uploaded to the CamScanner app. On the left you can see the various apps from which files can be uploaded. These files can then be processed further with the CamScanner app. The procedure is the same as for a direct shot image.

The main function behind Button No. 5 (Symbol: box) is the help function (only available in English).

Add tag

To a new one Day to add to a category press Button No. 6 (Symbol: pendant with a plus sign). The existing tags can be seen in the blue bar above. The more files you scan, the more sense such tags make. Therefore it makes sense to assign tags from the beginning. The tags can be edited in the general settings (see above).

More functions on the start page

With Button No. 7 (Symbol: View) can do the view the categories can be changed.

With Button No. 8 (Symbol: arrows) can the Sorting of the categories to be chosen.

Around Categories quickly and in a targeted manner to edit can also be used with Button No. 9 (Symbol: box with a tick) switch to the corresponding menu.

No. 4: The two selected categories can be merged.
