Does scientific knowledge really help science itself

Why does the world need science? To the March for Science Germany on April 22nd, 2017

On April 22nd, 2017, people all over the world will take to the streets - at the March for Science. They demonstrate the value of science and research as a livelihood of our open and democratic society. There will be marches for science in Germany too; they are planned in more than a dozen cities.

The Science Media Center Germany supports the campaigns around the March for Science, because it is our concern, when science makes the headlines, to bring expertise into the media discourse and thus to provide well-founded information to society. We now wanted to know from the experts registered in our database:

Why does the world need science and research?

More than 60 experts give one sentence each as an answer.
