How does philosophy affect my personal life?

Philosophy and attitude

Our goal is an inclusive society in which all people can participate equally. Inclusion means:

  • Equal rights for people who are different.
  • Nobody is marginalized because he or she is different.
  • Diversity is welcome and valued.

The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities describes how human rights must also be implemented for disabled people.

Participation is a human right. Participation needs everyone in society. We are mutually dependent on one another. Everyone has a variety of gifts that he or she can bring. We can support each other. We want to listen carefully and learn from each other.

There are certain situations and transitions in life in which you have to think especially about your own future.
For example:

  • What is important to me in life?
  • Where and how can I study well?
  • How do I want to spend my free time?
  • Where and with whom do I want to live?
  • What and where do I want to work?
  • What can a bright future look like for my disabled child?
  • What do I do when I retire?

For many people there are always hurdles to participate in society and to determine their own lives. This is the case, for example, for people with disabilities, a migrant background or little money.
